What does this mean for the Close Protection Operative (Top Up) Qualification?

All those needing the Close Protection Operative (Top Up) qualification for their licence renewal must be registered before the last registration date of 31st October 2025.3rg's last CP Top Up Course will be held on the 1st-3rd October 2025.

Who needs to do the refresher training?

From 1 April 2026, you will need to take refresher training if you are renewing a close protection licence. Refresher training will need to completed every time you go to renew your licence (every 3 years).

Students are also required to update their first aid qualification prior to taking the refresher training- this must have at least a year (12 months) left on it in date as per SIA requirements:

Level 3 First Aid At Work (3 Days)

Level 3 First Response in Emergency Care (5 Days)

Level 3 First Response in Emergency Care Refresher (3 Days) - *note certificate must be in date.

Your medical qualification MUST be a RQF (regulated qualification). Unregulated qualifications cannot be accepted as stated by the SIA.

Other Pre-Requisites

• Blue and Red certificates to show you have taken the ACT Awareness and ACT Security e-learning – you must have completed both within the last year. Link: E-Learning | ProtectUK.
