
3rg Maritime Security Operators (MSO) Course
To date personnel working as PCASP have been required to demonstrate maritime knowledge and qualification through the Ships Security Officers (SSO) course. However, the SSO course was designed for general on-board security awareness and not for anti-piracy operations.
3rg therefore run a Maritime Security Operators Course for all personnel prior to first employment by 3rg. The MSO course is new to the maritime industry and has been designed to address the key points of anti-piracy operations.
The 3rg training standard means all employed PCASP will gain relevant knowledge for the work they are about to undertake. Importantly this training period also allows 3rg to assess a candidate’s character and suitability for armed anti-piracy operations in a non-military environment. The knowledge base for the course content is drawn from the extensive experience of 3rg’s management from both service in the UK Special Forces and work within the commercial shipping sector. The course covers all aspects of BMP version 4 that apply to PMSC and PCASP.
